📸 Joy in the Journey, Magic in the Moments

Hi, I’m Jen, an award-winning pet photographer who spends part of each spring in Charleston creating natural, joy-filled images of pets and the people who love them.

From time to time, I open a small number of creative calls when I’m looking to photograph something very specific for my portfolio, competitions, or new artistic ideas. These sessions are designed around a particular concept and help me explore new stories, locations, or techniques.

🐶 How It Works –Apply for a  Call

Current options include:
• Boykin Spaniels
• Horses with their people
• Adventure cats who explore on leash
• Beautiful Charleston porches with dogs

• Senior sugar-face dogs with their people (dressed in pink)
• Kids (4–7) with their dog

How it works

• Apply for the creative call that fits you and your pet
• Selected participants will receive a session invitation
• A $50 deposit reserves your spot and is refunded after the session (or applied toward artwork)
• You receive one image of my choice, with the option to purchase additional images

Creative calls are scheduled around my creative vision and lighting needs, so flexibility is important.

If one of these ideas sounds like the perfect fit for you and your pet, I’d love to see your application.

Apply by clicking the button below!  I’ll reach out if it looks like we’re a good fit

If none of the current creative calls are the right fit for you and your pet, you’re always welcome to book one of my Artisan Sessions, which are designed around you and your pup in one of the magical locations I’ve chosen.

Why is there a deposit fee for a free photoshoot?

Because my time is so limited and there are usually too many applicants to accept everyone.  It breaks my heart when someone doesn’t show up for their session and I’ve missed out on creating something special for someone.

The deposit is refundable after a completed session, but is forfeited for late arrivals or missed sessions.

Your deposit fee can also be applied to any high resolution digital image purchase that you want to purchase.  There’s no obligation to make any additional purchase, but fair warning – your pup and I will make it difficult to walk away without some :).

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my dog needs to be on a leash?

All dogs will stay on leash for their photoshoot! Most leashes can be edited out; harnesses are more likely to remain in.

My #1 priority is the safety of your pet.

Where do photoshoots occur?

It depends on the creative call, but they will be in the Charleston area

What if my dog won't sit still or isn't well behaved?

That usually isn’t a problem for me, but since our time is so limited in this situation I’m looking for pups who can hold a decent sit/stay – long enough for you to take a few steps away (holding the leash) and to get the pup to look at me.

Is artwork included in my deposit?

You’ll already receive one digital images as a thank you for your time, and your deposit fee can be turned into a credit towards any digital image purchase.  There is no obligation to purchase any images beyond the free image (of my choice).

What if it rains?

Unless it’s raining heavily or there is a massive storm we’ll plan on meeting.  Cloudy weather can be beautiful, soft light, and you can always bring a fun rain jacket/umbrella.

What if my dog is nervous around strangers, or not good with other dogs?

I’ve fostered over 100 dogs and cats, and so I’m used to all kinds of behavior!  And we’ll work with whatever they need.

When do photoshoots occur?

These sessions will be held either first thing in the morning or for the few hours before sunset. There are a few afternoon options for days when it’s forecasted to be cloudy all day.  Rain or shine.  You’ll be able to select from available time on the application page.

What should I wear to my photoshoot?

In general I recommend avoiding black or white, but earth tones and pops of color are usually great.  Creams, browns, mossy greens, mustard yellow, burnt orange, salmon pink are my favorites.

What if I don't like being in photos?

This project will feature mostly just pets, but because you’re such an important part of your family’s story, I strongly feel that you need to be in at least some of the photos.

There are lots of options to include you without making you the focus of the image. And, I’m happy to assist with posing and positioning to help you comfortable.

Will you take photos of any other kinds of pets besides dogs?

I talk about dogs most of the time because that represents the majority of my clients. But, I’m happy to photograph any kind of pet that can be taken to the park (except spiders because they freak me out).  It depends on the creative call.

Hi!  I’m Jennifer.  I’ve been a professional pet photographer based in MI for over 8 years.  Before that I was a wine sommelier and did a lot of travel photography.

Now I apply those travel photography techniques to pets with their people in beautiful locations.  From Italy, to Germany, to Australia, New Zealand, and of course, all over the U.S. (my goal is to photograph dogs in every state)!

Having fostered over 100 dogs and cats your pup is in good hands, I’ll make sure that they are comfortable and have fun so their personalities can shine through.

But just as importantly, you get to relax and be present in the moment with your pup.  Let me do all the work to get everyone looking at the camera.

I believe that dogs are magic and the more time we spend with them the better!
