Celebrate the wonder and whimsy of life’s simple joys with your pup

Professional Pet Photographer based in Metro Detroit (travel available)

At Firefly Pet Photography, I believe it’s important to be photographed with our dogs, to be recognized as part of their story.

But too many people put it off because they’re worried about looking their best or fear that their dog won’t behave.

So I help dog moms feel comfortable and confident in their photos, and relax knowing that their dogs/kids can do no wrong.

That way you can enjoy the Firefly Pet Photography experience and have artwork that brings happiness and joy to your home.

When it comes to your dog, can you relate to any of these?

"I'm never in photos with my pup!"

"I never get around to doing anything with my cell phone photos."

"I lost all of the photos I had of my pup"

"I wish I'd known about this service before"

Don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place.

Capture Memories With Your Pup

Images of you and your dog is the pixie dust your home needs!

Custom Experience

We’ll plan a photo shoot customized to what makes you and your pup happy: Locations with water, trails through woods, open fields for action shots, etc.

Your Dog's Personality

Because I’ve worked with so many animals, I understand the nuance of their body language. Your photos will reflect your dog’s unique personality.

No Training Necessary

Our shoot will be all about your pup, regardless of how well trained they are. Even if they have to stay on a leash (which can usually be edited out), or don’t sit still, we’ll still get perfect photos!

You'll Look Good, Too!

You’re everything to your dog, and it’s important that you’re in the images together!

I’ll provide tips on what to wear and flattering ways to pose so you can relax, feel comfortable, and look your best!

Spoil Your Pup

I have lots of high-value treats to suit any diet. We start each shoot with a taste test to see which treats your pup loves most!

And, if food isn’t their thing, I have other toys and noisemakers to entice even the most shy pups.

Artwork To Decorate Your Home With Joy

I’ve combed professional labs and vendors from around the world to curate the best, most interesting products! Display your photos in style with everything from canvas prints to storybooks!

I know what it feels like to realize I wasn’t in any photos with my dog.

When my heart dog Bentley was very sick, I realized I had beautiful photos of him, but I wasn’t in a single one.  In addition to worrying about him I was scared that I had missed my chance to capture our bond.  It was a devastating feeling and I don’t want anyone else to experience it.

Photos & Art Pieces in 3 Simple Steps!

Consult

We’ll meet via a video call and spend 30 minutes chatting about your dog!

On the call, we’ll cover everything from your pup’s quirks to their favorite toys and treats. We’ll also pick the perfect spot for your Photo Shoot.

I’ll send you a checklist of how to prepare for your Photo Shoot. Then, at your Shoot, I’ll guide you and your pup through everything!

You’ll both feel at ease with the camera, and we’ll create photos that capture those magic moments!

Then, we’ll jump on another call, and I’ll reveal a curated gallery of images from your Shoot! (Have tissues ready for your happy tears!)

Together, we’ll select your favorites photos, and then choose the art pieces, from wall art to albums to displays, that suit your home and lifestyle.

Woof upon a time you were chosen by a dog….

Happiness Guarantee

If you don’t love your images at your reveal, we’ll reshoot or your money back!

I’m Jennifer, and this is Bentley, and I’m the photographer behind Firefly Pet Photography.

And, of course, I’m the Chief Butler at home for Emmie, Bernie, Violet, Jackson, and Reggie.

A few years ago, when Bentley was very sick, I realized I’d taken beautiful photos of him, but because I was behind the camera, I wasn’t in a single one.  I still can’t talk about it without crying.

I scrambled to find someone to take photos of us together, and thankfully, we got them in time!  Now that he’s gone I’m so grateful to have these images with him.  But it breaks my heart that so many people don’t have photos with their dogs, so that’s why I always recommend being in at least some of the images.

I’ve had over 20 years of experience as a photographer, from my time working at pet rescues, to taking photos and raising thousands of dollars for animal charities around Metro Detroit.

When I’m not taking photos, I spend my time as a master gardener and professional wine sommelier! I also love to travel, especially to New Zealand, and of course, Disney World.

If you’ve ever thought of getting photos of you and your dog, now is the time!  I’d love to work with you and create gorgeous artwork to decorate your home with joy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you take photos of any other kinds of pets besides dogs?

I talk about dogs most of the time because that represents the majority of my clients. But, I’m happy to photograph any kind of pet (except spiders because they freak me out)

What if my dog needs to be on a leash?

Many dogs stay on leash for their photoshoot! Most leashes can be edited out; harnesses are more likely to remain in.

My #1 priority is the safety of your pet.

What if my dog is nervous around strangers, or not good with other dogs?

I’ve fostered over 100 dogs and cats, and so I’m used to all kinds of behavior!

I know of several locations that are off the beaten path; I can use lenses that allow me to stay further back than usual; and I’m happy to get shy dogs time to warm up and enjoy a little walk before the camera comes out.

We’ll discuss how to make your pup most comfortable during your Free Consultation.

Where do photoshoots occur?

Each photoshoot is a custom experience.

I meet with most clients in local parks or in their backyards. In-home shoots are also an option, but outdoors is preferred.

We’ll select the best location for you and your pup during your Free Consultation.

What if my dog won't sit still or isn't well behaved?

No worries!

I’m used to working with all kinds of dogs whose training is a little ruff around the edges.  Plus, that’s part of what makes your pup unique!

It’s my job to make sure they look at the camera, and I have lots of ways of making that happen.

I also have lightning-fast gear, so all I need is a split second to get the perfect shot!

What should I wear to my photoshoot?

Prior to your shoot, you’ll get a guide featuring tips on what to wear (and what not to wear).

If you book a Looking Glass Session, I’ll work with you 1:1 (either virtually or in-person) to help you select your outfits.

What if I don't like being in photos?

Because you’re such an important part of your dog’s story, I strongly feel that you need to be in at least some of the photos.

There are lots of options to include you without making you the focus of the image. And, I’m happy to assist with posing and positioning to help you comfortable.

Do you photograph humans as well?

I’m happy to include photos of humans only from any of my pet portrait sessions and I love branding sessions for pet business owners, but I don’t take any non-pet related clients, sorry!

I don't live in Michigan, can you still photograph my pets?

I love to travel, and I offer sessions wherever I go.

Email jen@fireflypetphotography.com or check my Instagram highlight for my latest travel schedule.

And if there is an opportunity to combine several sessions, I’m happy to accommodate those requests.
